And they called him Navien...

Thomas Edison dreamed of a lamp that could be operated by electricity, began where he stood to put his dream into action, and despite more than ten thousand failures, he stood by that dream until he made it a physical reality. This is what drives this young man towards reaching his goals in life. Born on the 23rd February on a rainy day, his parents named him Navien, which means thunder in Sanskrit. His parents love him so much as he is the youngest in the family. He has an elder sister and elder brother. They cared for him alot too. He loves soccer the most and is a staunch supporter of Manchester United Football Club. He had his primary education in a Chinese school. Later he went Kepong Baru Secondary School to further his studies, this is where his life took a dramatic change. His studies were good and consistent and he was often praised by his teachers as he reached his third year in secondary education, the year he fell in love for the first time.

It was the first day in school after the year-end holidays. She walked into his class and sat beside him as there wasn't any seat left. Her name was Jessica, a new student from Malacca. She was truly a beautiful girl and he fell instantly in love with her. It was indeed love at first sight for this young man. That day he barely slept as he thought to himself, Ah, love! What does it mean? How does it arise? But he knew that she didn't have any feelings for him as they have never met before. She made good impressions with the teachers and made plenty of friends as the days passed by. She was the kind of the girl that made him smile everyday in class. As days passed by he loved her more and more. They had a good relationship. Finally he decided to confess his love to her on Valentine's day. With his head held high and heart beating at an abnormally fast rate he walked towards her with a rose hidden in his back pocket. As he walked closer to her, he saw another boy sitting next to her. Before he could say anything, Jessica stood up and said, 'Hi Navien, I would like you to meet my boyfriend, Justin' . He felt as though he was struck by thunder. He smiled and left without even saying a word. With tears flowing through his cheeks he dumped the rose into the waste bin.

That day he went home feeling devastated, realizing this his dad approached him for a talk. Without asking him any questions, his dad told him, '' son, the more difficulties one has to encounter, within and without, the more significant and the higher in inspiration his life will be. Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising every time we fall'. That day he realized his dreams and set his goals in life. The next day he went to school and saw Jessica, he talked to her and treated her as usual. He opted to be just friends with as there was no point in hating her. He took up new hobbies and realized his passion for sports, especially for soccer. He often represented his school for debates and choral speaking. A year later he was entering his final year in his secondary school life. Hopes were high from his parents for him to do well in his Malaysian Certificate of Education or better known as SPM. That year he worked really hard and the fruits of his labor were proven in his mid-year and trials exams. With his morale highly boosted by his good achievements in his previous examinations, he sat for his SPM. After completing his SPM exams, he had a memorable graduation day in school. He recalled the events that he encountered during his school days and described them as unforgettable moments.

Currently he is pursuing his tertiary education at KBU International College. He has enrolled for Australian Matriculation because he wants a globally recognized certificate of undergraduate education. His ultimate dream is to become a successful doctor as it is what he and his parents have always wanted. He has pledged to endeavor in life, in order to realize his goals.
